Honey , Beeswax and Bee Pollen Pesticide Residue Analysis

Analysis of coumaphos in honey, beeswax and bee pollen.

The FDA has declared that coumaphos has a zero tolerance in honey.  Therefore no coumaphos residue should be present in honey at or above the limit of quantitation of the enforcement method (10 ppb).  Any residue of coumaphos present in honey at or above 10 ppb is considered to be an adulteration of the product and misuse of the pesticide.

The enforcement method is an LC/MS/MS procedure developed by ADPEN in cooperation with the manufacturer.  Although other procedures are being used for the analysis of coumaphos in honey and wax, these are not acceptable to the EPA or FDA and may provide erroneous results.

Proper product quality control of honey should include batch analysis for residues of coumaphos.

ADPEN as an independent R&D laboratory provides analysis of pesticide residue samples, analysis of raw materials, identification of impurities and contaminants.  Confirmation and identification by LC/MS or GC/MS.  Standard turnaround 7 business days.  Call for competitive pricing information.

ADPEN has developed and validated methods for the analysis and registration of pesticides in honey and wax.  Are you testing your honey for unlawful use of pesticides or miticides?

The bees are in danger of extinction and one third of the food supply could be lost.  Read why this is happening in the  publications of the APIS Newsletter from the University of Florida.

ADPEN operates under FDA, EPA, OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), GLP and cGMP guidelines.

ADPEN state-of-the-art instrumentation include LC/MS, LC/MS/MS, HPLC, CE, CEC, GC, and GC/MS.
